This was the first question that popped into our minds when we decided to get married. We were both clueless. The entourage part was easy, but how do we choose our marriage sponsors?
So I texted some people I know.
Answer 1: Usually someone you have a relationship with, someone who really knows you, or both of you, and can guide you through marriage. Of course being moneyed wouldn't hurt, either hehe
Answer 2: You choose either your parent's closest friends, or the parents of YOUR closest friends whom you know, and has seen you grow up, and would be willing to guide you as a couple
Answer 3: (On the question Do I get somebody from the office, whether that's appropriate?): Yes, you can get him because he has known you for a long time, and he is not even part of management anymore.
Answer 4: Don't get somebody you report to, it does not look proper, as there may be confict of interest. Don't get somebody who is single, for what does he know about marriage?
Answer 5: Si Manny Pacquiao pwede ba?
Hehehe. But answer 5 was a true answer from someone.
I suppose we will learn more from the DIscovery Weekend, but using my elder's and friends' advice, we have our initial list of our ninongs and ninangs. I still have to talk to my mother and get her side of friends.

* my mentor, whom I made a deal with a long time ago. A busy busy lao-pan, he said, "Finally!" He will fly in from Taipei
Roopak Sekhri
* L's mentor from Singapore, who is even more excited about Bora than us, he will be there for a week!
Eugenio Ozzaraga
* Uncle Pards, Papsboy, has always been a volunteer;, it's too bad he will not be there because he will finally rejoin his family in the US for at least a year. We will miss you, Papsboy.
Vicente Paterno
* someone I have a personal relationship with, and has many many words of wisdom for a happy marriage and a long life...but that's another blogpost.
