The King of Queens is a comedy about a married couple, ordinary Americans- Leah Remini playing Carrie who works as a secretary at a law firm and Kevin James as Doug , a UPS truck delivery postman, with alpha friends -Richie, an italian-american ladies man who works as a fireman, Spence, a thirty-something single guy selling tokens on the subway and living with his mother, and Deacon, another postman who's under the saya of his wife.
It's the interaction between Doug and Carrie, she the controlling partner, managing the household and the big boy in shorts (her hubby) who's content with his big tv, satellite dish, poker nights and billiards with the boys; then there's the 75-year old father Arthur (Jerry Stiller) who lives in their basement completing the comedy with his outrageous voice and over the top punchlines. It is so funny because it's a marriage that's so real and they live an ordinary life, not your usual hollywood happy, glorious endings. I enjoy the 4 friends- all flawed for being regular but they remind me of the way our lives are supposed to be: simple, fun- filled with laughter, a life filled with moments of friendships and family taking center stage, where work and other issues are dealt with in the background, and life goes on, even in its highs and lows.
The moral?
I gotta say I love Kevin James, Leah Remini and Jerry Stiller. I love American loud comedy.
Women will end up taking care of their men.
Boys need their space.
Laughter is the best medicine.
Know what matters most in this life.
