Isn’t it weird that I have so much affection for this country which raped Manila and beheaded my grandfather in the 40s?
The Japan I know, though, is the contemporary Japan, circa 1995-2005. The land of weird youth, of freedom in fashion, of the best food and first rate quality living. It has its own vibe, and remains my top favorite travel destination.
The best way to get around is to take the train. The JR Line (green line) goes around in a complete loop, and famous stops include:
1. Shibuya (teentown with the huge pedestrian crossings, best ramen shops)
2. Omotesando (like the famous boulevards in Europe),
3. Harajuku (where you’ll find eclectic, eccentric, punk, goth fashion),
4. Akihabara (best electronic shops )
5. Yoyogi Park
In my next travel post, top Japan moments!
